St. Patrick’s College has had a long standing commitment to EMU.
We strive to nourish in all our pupils the development of attitudes, values and behaviour in keeping with a genuine sense of mutual understanding.
We believe that EMU is promoted best as part of the ethos, curriculum, pastoral system and community dimension of the College.
All teachers have a responsibility to encourage students to value themselves, their cultural and religious traditions, and also to encourage them to come to an understanding of, and respect for, other traditions.
We aim to provide students with learning objectives that meet the statutory objectives of EMU. These aims have found expression in the curricular and extra curricular activities within the College.
The pastoral structure in the College is a central tool in developing the objectives of EMU. There is a set of timetabled programmes of pastoral care where attitudes of tolerance and respect are addressed.
We aim to ensure that every pupil will have access to an EMU programme that is comprehensive, experiential and meaningful - a programme that will prepare our pupils for life as adults in our own society, and in the world around them.
