Business Studies is offered at Key Stage 4 as a GCSE subject.
At Post 16 the subject can be taken at ‘A’ level and also GNVQ Intermediate level.
The subject addresses topics such as: awareness of environmental issues, health and safety considerations, the European business dimension etc.
Post 16
Two courses are available:
- ‘A’ level Applied Business either Double Award or Single Award.
- General National Vocational Qualification (GNVQ) Intermediate in Business.
‘A’ level Applied Business is a two year vocational programme with Advanced level equivalence. It gives students the opportunity to focus on a specific pathway e.g., Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Administration. Successful completion can lead to Higher Education and/or quality employment in the world of business.
GNVQ Intermediate is a one year course equivalent to 4/5 GCSE’s. Successful completion can provide the academic base for ‘A’ level study.
Such success also opens up a wide range of employment opportunities in the business sector. Post 16 students have the opportunity to participate in the Young Enterprise Company Programme.
Over the last few years the College had outstanding success taking the Northern Ireland title in 2003 and runner up in 2004.
