I would like to welcome you to the  24th edition of Labhairt Amach.  Each edition is packed full of interesting articles which allow you to see the great things going on in our school.  It’s only when you have the chance to sit down and read Labhairt Amach that you realise the huge amount of events that are taking place in school.  In our school community we have chances to take part in sporting events, school trips, charity work and lots more.  It is therefore only fair that we share the achievements and celebrations.

Labhairt Amach means ‘to speak out’ and here at St Patrick’s College we are encouraged to do that.  Many thanks to all staff members and pupils who are ‘speaking out’.  Anyone wishing to contribute articles or join the editorial team is more than welcome.  Your contributions can be anything—a poem, a story, an important announcement, everything will be welcomed and valued.

Do you have any exciting stories that will keep us on the edge of our seats?  Any puzzles or drawings?  If the answer to any of these is ‘yes’, then we would love to include your work in our newspaper.

Please contact Miss Gilroy or any member of the editorial team if you would like to get involved.

Text Box: the local Rotary club. if successful, you go to the regional finals.
If you pass all these stages you are rewarded by becoming a European member of Parliament for a few days at the Strasbourg European building. There you will meet other students from all around Europe debating on recent topics of Government.
Unfortunately I did not make it Text Box: The Youth leadership Development Competition is sponsored by the rotary organisation. They are a charitable organisation which runs all over the world and have made efforts throughout the years to combat poverty.
This competition consists of three stages. Firstly, off at the local schools, if you qualify at your school you are then interviewed by Text Box: through to the regional finals due to the tough competition at the Rotary clubs interview stage but I was rewarded by the Rotary club for attempting this tough process. It was a great experience for me, I have gained experience of interview techniques and I feel a competition like this is great in helping to instill confidence.
