Text Box: I got up early and my dad drove me to school to wait on Ms Rainey coming in her car. There were three others coming on the trip with me. Ms Rainey drove along the motorway to our destination at Coleraine. It took between one or two hours to get there.
When we got there we were signed in and I was given my own personal name tag. We received a cup of coffee while waiting to go to the lecture. A man gave us a talk on the plans for the day.

We were brought to the labs where we put on lab coats and goggles. The main lab was large and had lots of equipment. A man gave us a talk on safety in the lab and the use of the equipment.

Text Box: Our group of four pupils had to work in teams of two. One pair used the test tubes and chemicals and the other two used the Bunsen burner.
When we finished our investigation we wrote our answers down. We then broke for lunch.
After lunch we returned to the lab where we were given our new task. The assignment involved trying to separate diamonds from salt.
After that we were treated to a spectacular light show by a top professor, it was magic!
We were each given a neon light, pen and book marker as gifts.
It was a great day. We drove home in Ms Rainey’s car and my dad picked me up and when I got home I told them everything.
